The Mandalorian & Grogu’s Villains Officially Confirmed In New Trailer

Din Djarin and his adopted son are fighting several antagonists in their next adventure in The Mandalorian and Grogu.

Disney releases a new trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu, confirming the villains for the film. Seven years since the Star Wars sequel trilogy wrapped with The Rise of Skywalker, the galaxy far, far away is ready to return to the big screen. This time, their comeback is spearheaded by the duo that launched Disney+ in 2019. As Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni bring the iconic father and son duo from TV to the big screen, marketing for the film ramps up as its premiere nears.

Following a lukewarm attempt to sell the film, including the odd The Mandalorian and Grogu Super Bowl ad, Disney and Lucasfilm have made an effort to properly promote the movie with the release of its second trailer. Its footage offers a better look at the titular character, their new allies and foes. While specific story details of the film remain unclear, it’s clear that it will be action-packed, as Din and Grogu encounter various species.

In the latest The Mandalorian and Grogu trailer (via Star Wars/Instagram), Disney and Lucasfilm confirm the host of antagonists that the pair will be facing. In the clip, Din runs them down: “Gangsters, war criminals, and monsters.” In previous promo clips, the Mandalorian only listed down the first two. Watch the full clip below:

To say that the pair has gone through so much since Lucasfilm first premiered in Pedro Pascal’s The Mandalorian show on Disney+ would be an understatement. Given that, they’ve also encountered no shortage of bad guys during their run as a duo, and while each time, they found unexpected allies to help them, it seems like there’s an effort to focus on the pair as an entity wandering the galaxy for a job, as they’ve been hired by Sigourney Weaver’s Ward, who is the leader of the New Republic’s Adelphi Rangers.

What’s curious now is if The Mandalorian and Grogu will feature one of those villains who have a personal vendetta against either of them. As seen in the aforementioned trailer, it appears as if every dangerous encounter that they have in the film will be due to their new employment sifting through the remaining Imperial warlords after the fall of the Galactic Empire. It would be disappointing if all there would be in the conflict in this movie are jobs for Din and Grogu. Under normal circumstances, that would have been a solid overarching narrative for the pair, but not for a film that’s supposed to be the grand culmination of their Star Wars story.

Star Wars Doubles Down On Its Oldest Disney+ Question In The Mandalorian And Grogu

As The Mandolorian and Grogu prepares for its big screen debut, Star Wars is doubling down on its oldest Disney+ question ahead of its premiere.

It’s no secret that there’s immense pressure for The Mandalorian and Grogu to succeed. While Disney and Lucasfilm are ready to restart Star Wars‘ storytelling on the big screen, it’s still extremely important to set the tone with their movie comeback after seven years. The film will also mark the galaxy far, far away’s first summer blockbuster release since Solo: A Star Wars Story flopped back in May 2018. Hopefully, The Mandalorian and Grogu meets expectations when it hits theaters on May 22, 2026.
