Hyundai Recalls 4,555 Units of 2026 Kona SUVs Due to Faulty Steering Knuckles

Still new, the 2026 Hyundai Kona is now in the books of a recalls, and it concerns its steering system. The problem resulted from a potentially faulty steering knuckle that led to the recall of 4555 units of its SUVs, all 2026 models that featured gas engines and that were sold in the United States.

    Hyundai USA

From the report submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) by Hyundai, it states that the affected models might be having front steering knuckles that were cast incorrectly, causing them to develop cracks during the process of maneuvering, especially in hard cornering, which would make you want to make either a left or right turn, leading to increased pressure on the steering knuckle assembly.

When the pressure gets too high, the damaged knuckles can fracture completely and may cause the driver to lose control of the steering wheel. As of now there are no accidents or injuries that have been reported connected to the recall, Hyundai stated.

Affected owners have been advised to bring their Konas to their local dealer so that they can be inspected, and if the steering knuckles need a replacement, it will be done free of charge; no fees will be charged for work under a standard warranty plan. The other thing is that Hyundai will notify dealers by April 6, 2026, and owners should be able to receive a letter from the automaker the same day.
