Polestar has teased an onslaught of new electric vehicles (EVs), including a new-generation Polestar 2 and a more practical version of its best seller, the Tesla Model Y-rivalling Polestar 4.
The Scandinavian auto brand is calling this the “largest model offensive in its history”, with four new models launching in three years. Polestar says it’s targeting the heart of the market, “where customer demand and profit pools are high”.
Following the launch of the new Polestar 5 grand tourer, due in Australia midway through 2026 and priced from $171,100 before on-roads, the Geely-owned EV brand says it will commence European deliveries of “a new variant” of the Polestar 4 in the fourth quarter of 2026.
This will be followed by a new generation of the long-running Polestar 2 liftback in 2027, and its smallest SUV yet, the Polestar 7, in 2028.

Polestar says the new Polestar 4 variant will appeal to a “wider customer base by offering more versatility”, and that it will combine “the space of an estate and the versatility of an SUV”, channelling Sweden’s wagon-making heritage.
A teaser image shows what appears to be a rear window and a more upright tailgate.
Spy images published on Weibo and shared on Reddit give us a better view of the as-yet-unnamed Polestar 4 variant, which has a more conventional SUV silhouette than the existing, more fastback-style mid-size SUV.
It also, crucially, has a rear window – unlike the existing Polestar 4, which has sheetmetal where a window would ordinarily be, forcing drivers to rely on cameras and the exterior mirrors to see out the back.
Apart from the more upright rear and its window, the new Polestar 4 variant otherwise looks very similar to its coupe-style SUV sibling, with a similar belt line and full-width rear light bar.
The next Polestar 2 has been previewed through frosted glass, but we can still see it’s low and sleek like the Polestar 5. That suggests it won’t be as high-riding as the current vehicle.
It also wears a version of the brand’s signature split-level LED daytime running lights, but for now there’s little else that we can glean.
The current Tesla Model 3-rivalling Polestar 2 entered production in 2020, making it the brand’s oldest model still on sale.
The latest teaser of the Polestar 7 doesn’t reveal any more of the all-new small SUV, which has previously been confirmed for production at a new Volvo Cars factory in Slovakia. It’ll share much with Volvo besides a production line, with Polestar to borrow key components like the electric motors from its sister brand.
Polestar says it expects to grow its global sales volumes by low double-digits this year, and expand its retail network by 30 per cent.
The Porsche Taycan-rivalling Polestar 5 is unlikely to contribute significantly to its sales tallies, given its positioning as a grand tourer halo model for the brand – and the fact it won’t be sold in China or the US, the world’s two largest markets by sales volumes.
Unlike other members of the Polestar lineup, it’ll feature a brand-exclusive lightweight bonded aluminium platform.
There’s no word on the previously previewed Polestar 6 convertible, the launch of which was delayed last year to after the Polestar 7’s in 2028.
Polestar will release its full-year 2025 results tonight, along with financial guidance, but has already confirmed that last year was its best year yet in terms of sales – not especially surprising given it only launched its first model in 2019, and recently tripled the size of its lineup.
It now offers the Polestar 2, the Polestar 4, and the Polestar 3 large SUV. In Australia last year, its sales were up 38.5 per cent on 2024, when it commenced deliveries of the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4. Both vehicles, naturally, grew their sales in 2025, though the Polestar 2 slumped by 48.9 per cent.
Polestar outsold fellow Geely-owned brand Zeekr, but its sister brand is gaining on it rapidly following the launch late in 2025 of the mid-size 7X electric SUV.
The Chinese-owned Swedish brand has plenty of other internal competition from within the Geely empire, with its Polestar 5 set to rival the Lotus Emeya, and the Polestar 7 to rival the Smart #3.
