The Subaru Impreza has shrunk further for 2026, while prices have been hiked across the small hatchback range.

There’s new standard equipment, however, with the surviving Impreza AWD 2.0L and AWD 2.0S variants gaining Subaru’s Emergency Driving Stop System.

Should the driver become unresponsive while driving, EDSS will bring the vehicle “to a controlled stop while alerting other road users” provided the lane-centring function is active.

A seat memory function is also now standard in the AWD 2.0S.

“After careful review, the MY26 Impreza lineup has been streamlined to two variants – AWD 2.0L and AWD 2.0S – focusing on the specifications most preferred and supporting improved availability,” said a Subaru Australia spokesperson, confirming the removal of the mid-range AWD 2.0R.

The AWD 2.0L is now $1000 more expensive at $33,490 before on-road costs, with the AWD 2.0S costing $2000 more than before at $40,990 before on-roads.

Otherwise, there have been no changes made to the Impreza apart from the introduction of a new exterior finish (Citron Yellow Pearl, priced at $660) and the removal of another (Oasis Blue).
