Why the 2018 Suzuki Swift Sport Was a Big Step Forward

New to its time, the 2018 Suzuki Swift Sport was a much better car than its predecessor. It came with an engaging drivetrain, weighed about 970 kg, and was good for the pocket—so cheap to own.

It’s about 3.9 meters long and weighs about 970 kg, saving about 80 kg when compared to the old model. As a four-door hatchback, it was loaded with equipment that weighed the same as a two-seat Mazda MX-5 that had a fabric roof.

Powering this Suzuki Swift Sport is a 1.4-liter four-cylinder with a turbocharger producing 138 horsepower at 5500 rpm and 170 lb-ft of torque at 2500 rpm. For the 0 to 60 mph time, it uses 7.5 seconds to accelerate and comes with a six-speed manual transmission. The top speed of the 2018 Swift Sport reached 130 mph.

In its interior you will find a racy-looking steering wheel, red highlights on the dashboard and also on the doors, and bucket seats. For the infotainment, there is a center screen that looks like it’s from the aftermarket, and the UX is so simple.

The back seats are good for two smaller occupants with nice headroom and big side windows. It occupies about 5 passengers, 2 at the front and 3 at the back. The boot is about 265 liters in capacity, but you won’t find a suitable spare wheel there.

Standard equipment found on the 2018 Swift Sport includes 17-inch wheels, a rearview camera, LED headlights, button start, Bluetooth/USB, climate control, and a 7.0-inch touchscreen integrated with satellite navigation, CarPlay, Android Auto, and Apple.

The 2018 Suzuki Swift Sport costs about $20,500 in the United Kingdom without VAT; this means it can cost about $25,000 and above if VAT is included.
