Toyota Recalls 127,000 Tundras, Lexus SUVs Over Engine Debris Issue

While Toyota has been the world’s most reliable car, it seems they are likely having a bad day at work. Currently they have issued a recall on one of their latest engines, a twin-turbo 3.4-liter V-6 mostly found in non-hybrid Toyota Tundras and Lexuses.

The issue involves the engine containing debris that was collected during the production process, and it has affected over 127,000 engine-powered Toyota Tundra models made between 2022 and 2024. The other brand is Lexus LX, of which over 127,000 models were affected and are of the same model year as the Tundra, and the 2024 Lexus GX didn’t get spared from the recall.

According to Toyota, there are chances that debris that was formed during machining wasn’t cleared from the recalled engines when they were manufactured. The result could lead to engine knock, loss of power, the car may not start, or the engine may run roughly.

Toyota says it’s currently working on a way to address the issue for its customers and plans to notify them as early as 2026.

To know more about the recall, owners of the affected vehicles can visit the NHTSA website at nhtsa.com/recalls; there they can enter their VIN number. Another way is that they can reach out to Toyota’s customer support team number at 1-800-331-4331; Lexus owners can reach out for help by calling 1-800-255-3987.
