In recent recall news, about 19,573 Acura models and 45,562 Hondas have been recalled due to separate software defects that have affected the reverse camera display and the instrumental panel, which may go blank when the vehicle is in operation. The entire recall largely covers 2024 model-year vehicles and includes 2024 Honda Prologue and 2024 Acura ZDX.
From the documents filed with the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a defect in the software causes the instrument cluster and center infotainment display to go blank while the vehicle is in operation. When this issue happens, the instrument cluster does not display any information, including the speedometer, warning telltale, tachometer, and indicator lamps.
In addition, the center infotainment display won’t show the rear-view camera images when the vehicle is shifted in reverse. The recall document states that the issues may be intermittent and could be resolved by restarting the car.
The NHTSA documents highlight the radio control module as the source of the problem, and it has six different software defects that affect the instrument cluster and the infotainment screen. Each of the defects occurs differently, restricting the radio control module from transmitting data properly to the instrumental cluster or infotainment display, causing the system to restart or crash, leaving you with a blank screen.
As of June 3, 2024, Honda received notification of the issue and began to investigate, and on February 19, 2025, Honda reported 148 warranty claims and no injuries or deaths reported in connection to the defect.
Honda is set to begin notifying affected owners by mail as of April 20, 2026, and they will be given instructions on taking their vehicles to an authorized Honda or Acura dealership to have the defect fixed by updating the radio control module software with an improved module that corrects the issue. For those that are concerned and want to know if their vehicle is impacted by the recall, you can check on the NHTSA website here.
